This role combines hands-on lab work, basic equipment calibration, and data management with physical inspection activities in a warehouse environment. The technician works closely with lab staff and warehouse colleagues to verify batches, confirm correct chemicals, and maintain accurate records that support high-quality, compliant production.
Responsibilities
- Perform all steps of routine experimentation, including sample preparation, equipment setup and orientation, instrument control, data processing, and analysis.
- Conduct basic calibrations of laboratory equipment and ensure instruments operate within required parameters.
- Release blends and tablet products by performing required tests and inspections, verifying that batches meet specifications before approval.
- Verify work in preset inspection zones, ensuring pallet batches match documentation and confirming that the correct chemicals are included in each batch.
- Partner with colleagues who weigh products, and assist with handling buckets and materials, including lifting items in the 30–50 pound range and managing multiple batches and containers as needed.
- Conduct product performance and field testing to evaluate how products perform under specified conditions.
- Approve, place on hold, or reject products based on laboratory analysis compared with established specifications.
- Ensure compliance with current regulatory requirements and follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines for data reporting, validation protocols, raw data generation, and final report preparation.
- Accurately maintain and update laboratory databases by transferring critical information from physical lab notebooks to digital systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Reexamine borderline or atypical test results, research relevant technical literature, and communicate opportunities for process improvements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet various completion deadlines.
- Recommend testing parameters and complete experiments and project work as assigned by senior staff or project leads.
- Provide analytical and technical support for quality-related product investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Review data for out-of-specification test results and prepare statistical process control (SPC) charts using historical results.
- Identify, recommend, and help implement laboratory improvements that support 5S initiatives and promote an organized, efficient workspace.
- Perform general lab activities such as pH testing, spectroscopy, wet chemistry, and physical testing of products.
- Use laboratory tools and equipment such as scales, pipettes, analytical balances, force gauges for breaking tablets, pH meters, calipers, and near-infrared spectroscopy instruments.
- Document all testing, inspections, and results accurately and in a timely manner, following quality control and documentation standards.
- Relay information clearly and accurately to supervisors, colleagues, and cross-functional partners, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Work independently within established procedures while collaborating effectively with lab technicians and warehouse staff.
- Support ISO 9001-related activities and quality system requirements as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support laboratory and quality control operations.
