Job description

We are looking for a QUALITY LAB TECHNICIAN to join our Newberry, FL plant. As a Quality Lab Technician with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials the prime objective is to assure that all lab equipment is operating within designed specifications, and lab testing is conducted according to the latest standards. The Lab Tech reports to the Quality Manager and Quality Coordinator. The LT must be able to operate laboratory equipment, X-ray equipment, computer and office equipment, hand tools, dolly, mobile equipment, and all additional tools and equipment required to perform the job

About the Role
Responsibilities:
Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with Plant rules, quality standards and Company policies.
  • Perform analysis on samples such as, Raw material, Raw mill, clinker, coal, cement.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is working properly.
  • Ensures all servicing and training requirements are made for all laboratory equipment.
  • Perform inspections and maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Reports any test results falling outside of KPIs or ASTM / AASHTO specifications.
  • Performs adjustments and minor repairs to equipment as required.
  • Uses LDMS, ICMS, Plant Focus, or other computerized management tools.
  • Inspects laboratory and quality control equipment on a regular basis and prepares work orders as required.
  • Ensures proper disposal of chemicals and samples.
  • Works with other departments to solve quality related problems.
  • Samples, splits, packages, and ships samples for third party testing.

About You
We Require:
  • High School diploma.
  • Knowledge of chemistry and mathematics.
  • Experience with computers and Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of the cement manufacturing process.
  • Should be able to evaluate data without supervision.
  • Make decisions and communicate well with other departments both verbally and in writing.
  • Can work well under the pressure of annual external reference lab inspections and annual proficiency testing.
  • A two-year associate's degree in related field is preferred.
    Must be able to work out in field and lab setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be willing to work a 12hr rotating schedule.
