Job description

Technician Putter Engineering performs custom golf club assembly assignments of a non-routing nature and with significant complexity and variety. This position is responsible for in-house custom building of primarily putters, but may extend to other clubs when necessary

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform putter and golf club assembly to a high degree of technical specifications with quality and accuracy
  • Modify standard components and finished product to meet special technical requirements
  • Provide and assist golf professionals with company products and service by adjusting, repairing or replacing component parts
  • Service and repair finished products when necessary. May troubleshoot finished product and make simple repairs as specified or deemed necessary. May make simple adjustments to correct minor deficiencies or meet individual requirements
  • Perform routine analysis to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of specifications to finished product
  • Inspect component parts for flaws, scratches or other cosmetic defects to ensure quality workmanship of product
  • Follow prescribed work methods or explicit instruction
  • Maintain equipment and tools necessary for use in area of assignment
  • Perform work in accordance with sound safety practices
  • Assist RDE in prototyping products on an adhoc basis
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing and demonstrated skills in reading and following written directions in English
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills to deal courteously and professionally with tour professionals and cross-functional co-workers
  • Strong knowledge of golf terminology and design, including club assembly process and related standards
  • Advanced custom club assembly skills, including loft, lie, and face angles
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in the building and design of product
  • Proficient in simple arithmetic skills and ability to read measurement tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect defects and make proper recommendations or repairs
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of standard equipment and hand tools specific to area of assignment
  • Grinding, cutting and sandblasting abilities with different metal types preferred
  • Preferred ability to use CNC milling machine in order to engrave lines, initials, names and logos to golf club heads
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Project

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent GED required
  • 1 year additional technical or trade school education above high school level preferred
  • 5+ years of experience regarding modification of existing putter parts in order to create non-standard clubs strongly preferred
  • Experience with CNC milling machines preferred
  • Passion/interest/knowledge for competitive golf preferred
  • Experience with modern tools (AI) preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office conditions
  • Primarily lab/warehouse environment, exposure to irritant fumes, solvent, dirt, dust and noise and varying temperature conditions
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials

The expected hourly rate for this position is $25 - $30 per hour.
