Job Description:
- This person will work closely with other lab engineers and lab technicians in the execution of lab projects benefitting various aerospace aircraft programs and development.
- The successful candidate will have familiarity with composite processing, standard mechanical test methods and data analysis, failure analysis, microscopy, and materials characterization (TMA, TGA, DSC, HPLC, FTIR etc.).
Position Responsibilities:
Establish and manage lab testing processes while ensuring strict adherence to compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct complex analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.
Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
Write material test program plans, lab reports, and associated support paperwork per established guidelines and methods, to characterize the materials' physical, chemical and mechanical properties, processing attributes and safety considerations.
Lead production of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
Lead development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.
Define requirements for materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and maintenance of products.
Incorporate environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office
Required Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Experience with composite processing or testing.
Experience reading requirements documentation and using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)
Experience collecting organizing, synthesizing, and analyzing data to develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working in a lab environment
Failure analysis / destructive testing
Experience with performance and analysis of mechanical testing
Knowledge of adhesive materials (such as epoxy, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, etc) and processes.
