Description

Job Summary

Responsible for clinical and operational oversight of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular services, including cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, device implantations and complex hybrid surgical procedures (e.g., TAVR and LAAC). The role requires close collaboration with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologist, vascular surgeons, Anesthesia, Hospital Administrators, Cath lab Director and Cath lab staff. Responsible for the overall development and operation of the Hybrid Cath Lab and EP. Managing the direction of technical, transcription and records management services. Development of service and equipment necessary to provide diagnostic and therapeutic patient studies and results thereof. Active participant in the coordination of imaging services for the Cardiac Cath Lab across the continuum.

Responsibilities

Clinical operations
  • Directs daily operations of the hybrid cath lab and ep labs to ensure patient safety, timely case starts, and proper staffing in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and policy/procedures.
  • Enforce safety regulations ensuring both patients and hospital personnel receive maximum protection from the hazardous effects of ionizing radiation, radioactive materials, and high strength magnetic fields used in diagnosis and therapy.
  • Participate in organizational development, including activities related to organizational facilitation, program development, leadership development, and professional development.
  • Communicate and coordinate with CCL Director, Associate Administrator regarding unit progress, plans and problems. Make recommendations for appropriate changes.
Staff Management
  • Recruits, orients, schedules and evaluates clinical and technical staff.
  • Represent the department at a variety of internal and external meetings, communicating pertinent information to affected staff.
  • Accountable for employee selection, hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, employee relations, discipline and termination.
  • Encourage cooperation within service groups and between other service groups and hospital departments.
  • Assess the need to define and re-define standards of care, protocols, and job descriptions in each corporate area according to needs of the patients.
  • Facilitate all levels of student opportunities for learning with varied schools of Nursing and Allied health
  • Determine and maintain acceptable staffing patterns based on applicable standards which provide care to all patients. Managing/coordinating patient/physician scheduling within the department.
  • Collaborate with charge nurse, chief tech and patient care supervisors for unit coverage.
  • Specific financial responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness with the use of service standards, unit cost information, contribution margin reports and service volume reports.
  • Assist CCL director, Associate Administrator, and Vice President w/ specific marking responsibilities which include Vandalia Health/CAMC goals, department goals, developing and implementing a business plan that identifies long and short-term goals, strategies for program development, marking and resource utilization.
Quality & Compliance
  • Work closely with Electrophysiologist, Cardiologist, Vascular Surgeons, Anesthesia, Vendors and other physicians as necessary in evaluating services and performance, making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Oversee radiation safety policies and procedures
  • Cooperate with Corporate Nursing QI, Medical QI and Radiation QI. Participate in continuous quality management and improvement.
  • Validates and maintains departmental competencies and quality.

  • Must possess, obtain and demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by; the department’s patient ages.

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

  • Associate's Degree (Required)

  • Previous leadership experience preferred but not required
  • 5 years Cath/EP/ Structural Heart experience
