Job description

Position Overview

The Sr Data Analyst builds solutions to drive business decisions across the company using available data sources and partners with engineers and product owners to create and build structured new solutions when needed. The Sr Data Analyst works with engineers and architects who, collectively, are responsible for business analytics, data infrastructure and data governance initiatives.  Applies strong business understanding and command of BI tools to impact business decision making. 

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Serves as a data expert and business partner, delivering reporting, data tools, and analysis to answer difficult questions and facilitating data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Partner with commercial product teams, software engineering, finance, lab operations and other key stakeholders across the company.
  • Collaborates with Data Architects and Data Engineers to develop robust, scalable data pipelines and databases.
  • Helps define and communicate corporate data standards, build common business metrics, and communicate solutions effectively between business and technology teams.
  • Strategically derives concise and actionable results from large volumes of data and educate both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Looks for ways to constantly improve data-influenced decision making and drive efficiencies in business processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Other)

Required

  • Bachelors + 5 years of related experience, or
  • Masters + 3 years of related experience
  • 2+ years in a business-facing analytics role. Experience in life sciences, healthcare, or technology industries strongly preferred.
  • High degree of proficiency with SQL. Experience writing complex queries from scratch and contributing to ETL/data mart development. Familiarity with MS SQL Server preferred.
  • Significant experience with data visualization software and analytics best practices. Experience with Tableau and Tableau Server preferred.
  • Experience working with business teams to define, optimize, and monitor end-to-end business reporting processes.
  • Ability to leverage a variety of tools and programs, such as Excel, R, and Python, to expand depth and functionality of analysis.
  • Experience with large healthcare, financial and operational datasets.
  • Strong consultative and communication skills. Experience translating large amounts of data and information into compelling visualizations to convey a "story" that is meaningful for the intended audience. Experience presenting to senior leadership preferred.
  • Have strong ability with data but can also develop a deep understanding of the business and how to move it forward.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, or another related technical field. Master's degree is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • This position is hybrid and expectations are to come onsite 1-2 times a month

Compensation

Salary Range: $90,000 - $135,000

Other compensation elements include:
