Primary Function

The Lab Analyst is responsible for preparing and analyzing environmental samples using established analytical methods in accordance with EPA regulations, internal Quality Assurance (QA) programs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role supports accurate, timely laboratory results while maintaining compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Responsibilities
  • Perform sample preparation using standard techniques, including acidification, digestion, aliquoting, and weighing
  • Conduct chemical analyses using approved laboratory methods and instrumentation
  • Prepare reagents, standards, and calibration solutions to support accurate instrument performance
  • Calculate, record, and report analytical data, including documenting any irregularities or deviations
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as needed
  • Maintain compliance with QA/QC standards, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in all aspects of work
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including glassware and workspace upkeep
  • Assist in operation and development of technical expertise in advanced instrumentation, including:
    • Gas Chromatography (GC)
    • Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)
    • Purge and Trap systems
    • Atomic Absorption (AA)
    • Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP)
    • Laboratory data systems
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks under supervision using established procedures
  • Complete all work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner
  • Support additional laboratory duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in related field, preferred 
  • Minimum of 3 years of labatory experience
  • Basic mathematical and data analysis skills, including use of formulas and calculations
  • Ability to manage workload within time and quality constraints
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording
  • Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment
