Job description

  • Gather samples of asphalt products (some are elevated-temperature materials).
  • Prepare samples for shipping to outside labs.
  • Test and document per PPC & QAQC Plans.
  • Perform general Lab cleaning.
  • Perform maintenance tasks and calibration of most Lab equipment.
  • Complete paperwork involving math skills.
  • Perform compliance tests on asphalt materials.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as answering the phone and filing.
  • Able to work with others and contribute to a team atmosphere.

REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-5 years experience as a lab technician.
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions and be computer literate.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to understanding and complying with all Federal, State, Local, and Company rules and regulations.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and extra hours as needed.

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort.
  • Normal memory takes into consideration the amount and type of information.
  • Normal complexity of decision making.
  • Above average physical mobility to enable access to elevated height areas via stairs or ladders, as well as movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.
  • Strenuous physical activity, including, but not limited to:
    • Lifting requirement of up to 50 pounds as well as the lifting of objects that may be awkward or bulky in nature.
    • Ability to bend, squat, and twist with proper ergonomic techniques and with a healthy range of motion.
    • Ability to reach both arms out, up, and down, including above the shoulder, with a full range of motion.
    • Extended periods of standing with a slight bend at the waist while looking downward onto a lab counter or within a lab hood to complete complex lab tests and procedures.
    • Must be able to ascend to the top of 40' plus high tanks using the stairs or ladders associated with the tanks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Works indoors and outdoors around industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor in a safe manner.

Compensation: $20/hour +. . . commensurate with experience
