Rate of Pay: $134,389 - $165,615 per year
Duties:
Develop and execute battery test plans using Arbin scheduler to simulate real-world usage scenarios and evaluate performance under varying conditions. Collaborate with modeling and algorithm teams to define test objectives that support data-driven model development and validation. Design and assemble custom battery test setups for different cell formats and chemistries, ensuring compatibility with lab infrastructure. Configure and calibrate lab equipment, including battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and safety systems, to enable accurate and safe testing. Create and maintain standardized test protocols (e.g., HPPC, GITT, drive cycles) to ensure consistency and repeatability across experiments. Automate test execution and data logging using Arbin MITS Pro and Python scripts to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Analyze large datasets using Python, MATLAB, or Excel to extract key battery metrics such as capacity fade, internal resistance, and efficiency. Integrate and validate new lab equipment with software systems, including development of custom drivers and APIs for control and data acquisition. Apply battery modeling knowledge to interpret test results, extract model parameters, and support algorithm refinement. Communicate findings and insights through technical reports and regular syncs with cross-functional teams to guide development and decision-making.
Partial telecommute benefit (2 days/week work from home).
Requirements: Must have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or closely related technical discipline (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and two (2) years of experience in battery testing, electrochemical data analysis, lab automation, and integration of test equipment for performance evaluation. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or closely related technical discipline (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience in battery testing, electrochemical data analysis, lab automation, and integration of test equipment for performance evaluation.
Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section):
  • Demonstrated Experience ("DE") designing and executing real-world battery test protocols using ARBIN scheduler to simulate dynamic load conditions and evaluate performance.
  • DE analyzing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) data to assess battery state of charge and identify performance anomalies.
  • DE automating test execution and data acquisition using Python, enabling efficient and repeatable lab workflows.
  • DE setting up and configuring battery test hardware, including cyclers, thermal chambers, and safety systems for accurate and safe data collection.
  • DE collaborating with cross-functional teams such as electrochemists, algorithm developers, and system engineers to align test strategies with modeling and integration needs.
