Job description

Position Overview:

This role is a Charging System Engineer to support battery electric machine (BEM) systems. This role emphasizes system-level engineering, focusing on validation, integration, and issue resolution of current charger designs, with future opportunities in new charger development. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in electrical systems, power conversion, and cross-functional collaboration.


Key Responsibilities:

System Familiarization & Troubleshooting

  • Rapidly gain expertise in the current charging system design.
  • Diagnose and resolve charger integration issues with BEMs.
  • Support validation activities, including FMEA-based testing.
  • Assist with lab-based charger testing and machine integration at field sites.

System-Level Engineering

  • Work with high-voltage AC (up to 690V) and DC (up to 1500V) systems.
  • Integrate systems involving chargers, switchgear, receptacle boxes, and utility infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and machine engineering teams.

Future Development

  • Contribute to defining requirements and designs for new charger products.
  • Participate in R&D initiatives related to EV charging and electrification systems.


Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience, or
  • Associates degree and 10+ years


Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience with charging products or converter/inverter products testing and debugging.

• Strong understanding of power converters such as DC-DC converters, AC-DC inverters

• Proficiency in using lab instruments and data acquisition tools.

• Experience with standards and compliance (UL, IEC, ISO) for charging systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automated test systems.

• Understanding of EMI/EMC testing, thermal design, and environmental validation.

• Working experience with CANape and charging system
