Job description

Under supervision, carries out activities required to provide laboratory services.
Education
Technical or Vocational school plus up to 2 years specialty training
Experience
No prior work experience required.
Qualifications
Completion of MLT program with associate degree
Must take and pass Board of Registry exam within 18 months of completing associate degree in MLT program

Area of Responsibilities
Identifies and corrects technical problems quickly and notifies appropriate personnel, physician, department, etc.
Knowledgeable of and follows OSHA's blood borne pathogen regulations thus using universal precautions, wearing appropriate PPE's at all times and adhering to no eating, drinking, applying make-up or removing contacts while in the lab.
Performs accurately and documents all quality control and instrument maintenance.
Performs laboratory testing in all designated sections of the laboratory in an accurate and timely manner.
Recognizes and responds to all critical values and delta checks.
Complies with standards set forth by all regulatory agencies.
Demonstrates organizational skills utilizing time, equipment and supplies well.
Demonstrates the ability to be self-directed and capable of independent follow-up.
Listens to customer complaints/suggestions attentively and reports appropriately.
Maintains technical competence through active participation in available continuing education activities.
Participates in performance improvement opportunities.
Participates in the orientation and training of new personnel and student interns.
Performs phlebotomy when required in a proficient and timely manner.
