Associate Engineer - Quality and Calibration
As an associate Engineer you will be responsible for performing or subcontracting all equipment calibrations, assisting with the implementation and management of the laboratory quality program to ensure compliance, including participating and leading audits.
Location: Lansing, NY
Salary: $70,000-$75,000

Your Challenge
  • Track, monitor, perform or subcontract calibration, verification, and adjustment of all laboratory instruments and test equipment according to internal procedures and industry standards. Create new calibration procedures if needed including measurement uncertainty calculations.
  • Create, validate and control datasheets used in the laboratory.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and IMR quality system requirements.
  • Maintain calibration schedules and ensure all equipment remains calibrated within required intervals.

  • Participate in the maintenance, upkeep, tracking and full engagement in the quality system for the laboratory and for the other IMR labs as needed. Some procedure writing and or editing may be required.
  • Lead root cause/countermeasure investigations and schedule, track and perform training as needed
  • Interface with customers, vendors and various company departments to resolve quality problems and provide information and guidance as needed.
  • Participate in and/or lead internal, customer and compliance audits.
  • Additional responsibilities / duties may be assigned as needed to assist Quality Manager

What You Bring
  • 2-5 year's lab testing experience, either independent lab, a captive lab or similar manufacturing or academic experience; mechanical testing experience preferred.
  • Assisted or participated in audits
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid working knowledge of Excel
  • Sound writing skills and a keen attention to detail required
  • Self-motivated, unbiased, detail-oriented and technically skilled
  • Ability to wear multiple hats, to perform individual work and help others when guidance is needed
  • Education - associates or bachelors - preferably in a mechanical or electrical field, or equivalent
  • Some travel may be required
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the aptitude to track and meet multiple deadlines throughout the year
  • Documentation control - calibration records, specifications, reviewing and writing procedure and training.
