Job description

The Cath Lab Registered Nurse is responsible for meeting the need of each patient and performing duties requiring advanced training and experience as related to the cardiac catheterization laboratory and meeting the needs of the cardiac patient wherever possible. The nurse will assist the physician as a scrub assistant, procedure circulator and recorder. The nurse must have a working knowledge of major cardiac diagnoses, medications used in the cardiac Cath lab/ EP Lab and in emergency situations. The nurse must have a working knowledge of sterile technique and assist the physician in the cardiac Cath lab/ EP Lab and where ever needed. The nurse is responsible for administration of IV conscious sedation, monitoring patients and may be needed to assist the physician and/or radiology technologist wherever possible during invasive procedures. The nurse must participate in quality improvement and the educational development of self and others. The nurse will function as a patient advocate and promotes good community relations for the Cath Lab and CRMC while maintaining patient confidentiality. The Cath lab nurse must be a Registered Nurse. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. State license as Registered Nurse.
Experience: One year or more critical care experience required. Previous EP/Cath Lab experience preferred.
