Job description

Job Title: Lab Operations AssociateJob Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Operations Associate to support our Research and Development (R&D) laboratories at our Colorado Laboratory, Innovation and Manufacturing Building (CLIMB) facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding and experience in managing the general operations of a Biology/Cell Culture lab. This position involves performing equipment maintenance/cleaning, documenting work in our computerized maintenance management system, buffer preparation, autoclaving/dishwashing, restocking PPE, and general lab upkeep. Additionally, there are opportunities to engage in continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities
  • Compare maintenance work plans and calibrations to manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify potential spare parts and critical spares.
  • Perform routine onsite lab operations following applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain clean and safe lab environments.
  • Address equipment issues and requests promptly.
  • Prepare buffers and solutions.
  • Support autoclave and glassware washing.
  • Replenish gas cylinders.
  • Perform and document in-house equipment maintenance/cleaning.
  • Escort onsite vendor equipment repair and maintenance work.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous process improvement.
  • Conduct maintenance on lab, R&D, QC biologic equipment, incubators, centrifuge, autoclave, fridge, freezer, and lab space.
  • Make media, buffer prep, and solutions.
  • Escort vendors on site for maintenance.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory operations experience.
  • Associate Degree or experience in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, virology, chemical/biochemical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in managing laboratory operations.
  • Experience working with a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CMMS, BMRAM.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Biotech start-up/life science industry and/or gene therapy experience is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about operational excellence.
  • Attention to detail, resourceful, and well-organized.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • GMP experience and Blue Mountain CMMS experience are nice to have.
Work Environment

The work hours are Monday to Friday, from 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4pm. The position requires onsite presence, with the possibility of occasional work during holidays, on-call, after hours, and/or weekends in emergencies. The role involves physical activities such as lifting and maneuvering up to 30lbs, standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods. The work environment is collaborative, with a focus on providing excellent service to other departments and fostering cross-functional communication.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.90 - $29.53/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
