Position Overview

The Germination Lab Assistant is responsible for preparing, setting, and monitoring vegetable and flower seeds for germination testing in accordance with AOSA standards. This role supports accurate seed quality testing by maintaining laboratory materials, cleanliness, and organization while following established procedures

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor seed inventory and maintain accurate records
  • Provide seed samples to the germination lab for testing
  • Convert seed weights between grams, ounces, and pounds as needed
  • Set vegetable and flower seeds for germination testing
  • Follow and maintain AOSA Germination standards and procedures
  • Refill and maintain chemicals and materials used during germination setup
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Assist with routine cleaning and general laboratory upkeep
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the day
