Overview
Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center, located in Freehold, NJ, currently has an employment opportunity available for a Part-Time Clinical Lab Assistant, Day Shift. The Clinical Lab Assistant, under the direct supervision of the laboratory supervisor, provides widespread support across laboratory departments by ensuring timely processing of lab specimens and performing various assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Performs patient registration and test ordering, verifies patient information, ensures timely specimen handling, and resolves processing issues to maintain accuracy and efficient workflow.
  • Evaluates and prepares specimens for testing, ensuring proper labeling, distribution, storage, and processing according to established guidelines.
  • Assists technical Team Members by performing duties assigned in loading of samples, performing maintenance.
  • Operates laboratory equipment according to procedures, troubleshoots issues or contacts support, documents temperatures, and maintains a clean, organized workspace as required.
  • Monitors and manages supply inventory, checks expiration dates, stores received items and keeps the storage areas clean and organized.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of HIS and LIS software applications for job-related functions.
  • Assists with training of new team members or students as required.
  • Completes mandatory continuing education.
  • Follows PPE protocols and ensures a clean, safe workspace.
  • Follows all approved standard operating policies and procedures

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • 2 years related experience required.
  • 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or equivalent, with demonstrated proficiency in patient registration, specimen handling, medical terminology, and laboratory information systems preferred.
  • Medical terminology experience preferred.
  • Experience performing healthcare patient registration preferred.
  • A strong customer service focus with the ability to develop effective working relationships, required
