Job Overview:
 
Pay Range: $14hr - $19hr
 
Responsibilities:
  • Monitors daily temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, water baths and incubators.
  • Reports out-of-specification values to appropriate individuals.
  • Monitors safety equipment, such as eyewashes, fume hoods and safety showers.
  • Performs periodic maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Monitors testing areas for radiation, swipes areas as directed and reports abnormal readings to management.
  • If necessary, decontaminates areas under the Radiation Safety Officer's direction.
  • Retrieves and removes hazardous waste materials including biohazardous, flammable, toxic, corrosive,
  • and radioactive wastes.
  • Provides general cleanup for the laboratories, including changing absorbent paper and refilling towels and soap.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred.
  • Comfort level with handling biological specimens.
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens.
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
