Lab Technician
WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
The Lab Technician is responsible for routine laboratory testing of process samples, environmental samples, and final product tank certification samples. Responsible for reporting changes in process from a laboratory perspective. Maintain a close working relationship with operations staff and follow laboratory techniques to ensure data is consistent and repeatable. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of specialized instrumentation in the lab and in the field
Requirements:
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work a modified schedule at the Nevada, Iowa site.
  • Ability to be available when needed for emergency calls.
  • Previous ethanol experience or manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with ASTM, QA/QC & good Lab Practices programs is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs routine laboratory test of production and environmental samples to ensure the quality of final product and environmental discharge levels.
  • In charge of day-to-day testing in line with standard operating procedures to ensure proper plant operations.
  • Enters laboratory test data into spreadsheets and generates reports as required.
  • Understanding lab data and how it pertains to plant operations.
  • Communicates laboratory analyses to plant personnel.
  • Maintain and properly use all lab equipment, including performing calibrations and cross validations.
  • Works independently on routine duties but consults with supervisor on any problems/rejections or unusual test results.
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and free from safety and environmental hazards.
  • Involved with the development, implementation, and revisions of the plant quality program.
  • Prepare chemical solutions for use in lab.
  • Maintains awareness and adheres to all GLP, cGMP, TTB, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines
  • Assist with shipment of samples to ensure compliance with DOT, TTB or other governmental or company regulations and requirements.
  • Supports the Safety and Environmental Department as directed by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

ABOUT US:
The VERBIO Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa (USA), is the first industrial scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facility in North America using agricultural residues as its feedstock. The plant is 100% owned by VERBIO North America Holdings Corporation.
RNG production from corn stover began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, at a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. Upon completion of Phase II in the 4th quarter of 2022, the site will begin operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million (EGE) of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company's facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.
