Job description


Position Summary
This position is dependent upon course enrollments.
The Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) assists the instructor with preparation & operation of laboratory classes whether in-person or virtual. The TA2 provides instruction in the laboratory. The TA2 may be called upon to assist with grading of laboratory assignments/quizzes and other clerical work related to the laboratory class experience. TA2 applicants must have taken and passed the course they would TA for with a grade "B" or higher.
The course instructor is the direct supervisor, and the person who makes the final hire decision.
This summer position also includes TA1 (Reader) responsibilities for the course lectures.
As with all TA positions, hire and continuance through the summer sequence depend on meeting minimum course enrollment numbers.
The TA2 must be able to work all laboratory sections for the full time the class lab runs, plus allow time for set-up, resets, take-down, daily meetings with the instructor, grading and other operational activities related to the running of the lab & lecture.
Successful completion of this summer position enhances consideration for the Lead TA (TA4) position for '26-'27 academic year.
  • Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Summer or Fall 2026 quarter
  • Must be able to cleared to start work on or before required start date June 15
  • Must have taken BIOL131/L, 132/L and passed with a grade of B or higher
