Testing Center Lab Assistant

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) provides quality and affordable higher education to empower lives and strengthen communities within Northwest Arkansas and surrounding areas. The Testing Center Lab Assistant is a part-time position that reports directly to the Director of Testing Services. This position is responsible for the administration of pencil/paper and online/web-based course exams for online and traditional classes. The incumbent will also assist with the scheduling and administration of a variety of testing programs, proctor services, and certification testing. The position requires at least 6 hours of work on Saturdays, with the option of working up to 19 hours per week.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for proctoring NWACC course exams, placement tests, and accommodated assessments, while also ensuring the workspace remains organized
  • Continuously monitors testers and enforces testing security procedures while administering various types of pencil/paper and computer/web-based tests for prospective and currently enrolled students
  • Obtains and maintains relevant certifications to support the administration of assessments associated with community proctoring services, including CLEP, Meazure Learning, PearsonVue, Kryterion, and PROV
  • Must have the ability to work Saturdays from 7:30am - 1:30pm
  • Delivers prompt and high-quality customer service by responding to inquiries about Testing Services through phone, email, and in-person interactions
  • Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others
  • Works as a liaison between the Testing Center and faculty while assisting students in the center
  • Assists with the reception desk as needed which includes checking in students, verifying identification, assisting students with making appointments, completing the proper paperwork for community proctoring services (Pearson, CLEP, etc)
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and college

Rate of Pay: $15.00 hourly

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least 1 year of experience in a specialized or related field applicable to work performed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of customer service experience
  • At least one year of experience working at an academic testing center

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be a self-starter who takes accountability for performance while requiring minimal supervision

Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills

Knowledge of Student Information systems, word processing programs, spreadsheets, email and other computer programs

Ability to build relationships with individuals and teams across the institution and campus
