Dental Assistant I

Job Location: 234 E 149th Street, Lincoln Hospital, Bronx, NY 10451

Pay Range: $31/Hr - $35/Hr

Job Duties

  • Assists in providing dental services including:
  • Preparing patients for exam/treatment.
  • Sterilizing instruments, maintaining equipment, mixing amalgams, cements, composites.
  • Taking dental x-rays, maintaining records.
  • Performing assigned lab procedures.

Skills

  • 1 year experience.

Education

  • Valid certification to practice as a Dental Assistant issued by NYSED.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A four year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by a course of study consisting of at least 600 instructional hours at an approved school for Dental Assistants;
  • A four year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by a course of study consisting of at least 300 instructional hours at an approved school for Dental Assistants plus six months full-time satisfactory experience as a Dental Assistant performing all of the following duties: taking, developing, and mounting dental radiographs, assisting dentist at chairside, sterilizing dental instrument using autoclave; or
  • A four year High School diploma or its educational equivalent plus one year of full-time satisfactory experience as a Dental Assistant performing the duties described in 2 above; or
  • A satisfactory combination of education and experience which is equivalent to 1, 2, or 3 above. However, all candidates must have at least a four year High School diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Experience as a receptionist or clerk in a dentist's office is not acceptable towards meeting the qualification requirements.
