Job description

The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
Purpose:
Provides product expertise and support for the sale of SPFH equipment and other related customer enhanced products which may include Ag Management Solutions (AMS), Harvest Lab, and Power Guard. Consistently exhibits Midwest Machinery Company's core purpose and values.
Responsibilities:
  • Represents the Dealership in the sale of SPFH equipment to customers in a defined sales area
  • Promotes and sells other related customer enhanced products including, but not limited to, Ag Management Solutions (AMS), Harvest Lab, Power Guard, and John Deere SPFH parts
  • Creates, develops, and maintains customer accounts in the SPFH segment
  • Creates, develops, and maintains a strategic marketing plan targeting SPFH customers
  • Knows and follows a defined solution selling sales process
  • Maintains product knowledge on SPFH equipment and reports on competitive marketing and product activities
  • Oversees the delivery of SPFH products and ensures the customer understands how to optimize use of the equipment
  • Organizes demonstrations, clinics, and trade shows in the designated sales area for customers on SPFH equipment
  • Participates in dealership promotional events (including but not limited to Dealership Clinics, County Field Days, others)
  • Maintains membership in trade associations related to commercial hay, silage, animal nutrition, dairy, and others while establishing key relationships with industry reps
  • Maintains relationships with key John Deere personnel related to SPFH equipment
  • Maintains relationships with other ForagePro dealers
  • Ensures the correct SPFH inventory of new/used/demo/loaner to support sales potential
  • Ensures aftermarket strategy supports the SPFH business plan and communication between all departments supports same
  • Maintains dealership vehicle and other equipment as assigned
  • Interacts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employees
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
  • High School Diploma/GED; associate or bachelor's degree in business or marketing preferred; 3+ years equipment sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years' experience in the dairy/commercial hay industry preferred
  • Knowledge of production agriculture industry and SPFH business
  • Knowledge of precision farming systems preferred
  • Excellent customer relationship skills
  • Ability to speak and write effectively one-on-one and within a group
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports
  • Ability to use a forklift/skid loader

Physical and Mental and Other Requirements:
  • Frequent bending and stooping
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing/using ladders
  • Occasional out-of-state travel
  • Ability to work flexible hours - extended hours in season
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record required
  • Must pass a pre-employment background study
