Job description

The Lab Analyst role reports to the Plant Chemist/Lab Leader as part of the site quality assurance laboratory.
The Lab Analyst is responsible for using analytical methods to provide prompt and accurate testing of industrial chemicals for conformance to quality specifications, for operational process control, to fulfill special customer requirements, or in support of troubleshooting or improvement projects.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Tests all samples submitted by production including those from Polymer, Resin Packaged, Shipping, Merchandise Returns, and any incoming Tank Trucks that may require "special blending". This includes finished goods and in-process samples when required
  • Performs any quality control tests needed to verify the measurements are precise and accurate, including rechecks, calibration standards, performance standards, etc.
  • Communicates approval status of all analyzed products to quality management, production, and shipping personnel to expedite product disposition in a timely manner. This also includes calling technical service for "out of specification" for all shipments during evening hours if necessary
  • Charts, graphs, the data generated as needed to monitor performance of the test equipment, standards, and or product. Maintains routine equipment and instruments by keeping them clean and calibrated. Reports immediately to supervision if any unusual incidences related to instruments or equipment
  • Maintains housekeeping and organization of all lab area
  • Works with a Lab Team Member/Shift Partner to ensure all NIGHT SHIFT (7P - 7A) are completed as required and adequately communicated to the required personnel and subsequent shift members.
Experience & Education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS Diploma or GED;
    • advanced education preferred
  • Minimum 2 yearsof lab environment experience or technical experience in a lab (internships) - testing with lab equipment with different protocols or College Chemistry Classes.
    • experience in manufacturing quality control lab a plus
  • Ability to be self-directed and have initiative
  • High integrity
  • Strong computer skills
    • Ability to work and learn SAP & LIMS system for testing data
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the team
  • Ability to promote team environment
  • Ability to interact with leadership and other teams to achieve quality result
  • Good communication skills - written and verbal
