Job Summary

As a member of the technical staff, the LNG Process Engineer is responsible for performing process engineering and design activities in support of LNG facilities and modular energy systems through full production. This includes LNG process and utility system design, specification reviews, process simulations and calculations, equipment sizing and selection, and development of process deliverables to meet process, code, safety, and client requirements. The LNG Process Engineer conducts design reviews; coordinates with other disciplines, clients, vendors, and fabrication; and provides technical support for LNG-related products and projects currently in production.


Essential Functions:

  • Undertake engineering and design work under the supervision of Senior Engineers and the Business Development Team
  • Accomplish tasks within the company procedures, specifications, standards, and any project specific addenda.
  • Provide technical support to sales and marketing for bids and proposals, such as schematics, equipment selection and specification review. 
  • Perform calculations and data analysis to accurately predict on impact product design decisions.
  • Prepare design deliverables including datasheet, specification, schedules, diagrams to enable procurement, supply, fabrication, installation, and construction to take place.
  • Support and organize vendor technical clarification meetings.
  • Prepare, modify, and maintain flow diagrams and P&ID's as well as equipment, instrumentation, and production specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to the project team as required (e.g., subcontract evaluation, scope definition, design schematics etc.).

Work Environment

Most work is performed in an office environment. Regular trips to the fabrication shop for observation and support may be necessary which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and head protection.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

The employee must be able to bend, climb, stoop, or stretch as required to examine fabricated components at the site or fabrication shop. 


Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 


Travel

Anticipated 20% travel for this position. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, structural, or chemical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in supporting the design of industrial facilities.
  • Minimum of five years of process engineering experience supporting LNG, natural gas, cryogenic, petrochemical, or similar process facilities.
  • Working knowledge of LNG process systems, cryogenic service, refrigeration cycles, natural gas processing, and process safety requirements.
  • Experience developing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, equipment datasheets, and process specifications for LNG or natural gas facilities.
  • Familiar with selection and technical requirement of general mechanical equipment such as pumps, chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Familiar with local and international codes and standards, regulations and implementations.
  • Familiar with engineering deliverables 


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Knowledge of pipe flow analysis and heat transfer software.
  • Experience with LNG or natural gas process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS or equivalent.
  • Experience with LNG liquefaction, BOG management, cryogenic heat exchange, gas pretreatment, or refrigeration systems.
  • Experience participating in HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, SIL, or other process safety reviews.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.
