The client is looking to hire STARLIMS developer with 8 to 10 years of experience in supporting various systems and technologies.
The STARLIMS Developer is responsible for designing, configuring, customizing, and maintaining laboratory information management solutions built on the STARLIMS platform. This role requires hands-on development across STARLIMS scripting languages, user interface components, backend logic, and database systems to support complex laboratory workflows and ensure efficient, compliant, and scalable system operations.
Key Responsibilities
System Development & Customization
Develop and maintain STARLIMS logic using STARLIMS Scripting Language (SSL) for backend processes, custom algorithms, and business rules.
Build and enhance client-side functionality using JScript.NET / JavaScript for UI behavior, calculations, and browser-side data manipulation.
Create SQL-based data queries, stored procedures, and data extraction logic to support dashboards, data grids, and workflow automation.
User Interface Design
Configure and enhance user interfaces using HTML5-based STARLIMS components in v11/v12 environments.
Work with XML-based structure definitions to facilitate communication between server and client UI layers.
Support or migrate legacy XFD runtime elements (if applicable) during modernization efforts.
Backend, Architecture, and Database Support
Support the STARLIMS application server running on the Microsoft .NET Framework, ensuring performance, stability, and compatibility.
Integrate and manage STARLIMS deployments backed by Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Database.
Troubleshoot server-side errors, environment issues, and performance bottlenecks.
Reporting & Instrument Integration
Develop and maintain reports, labels, and barcodes using SAP Crystal Reports.
Integrate laboratory instruments via TCP/IP and RS232 communication protocols, ensuring secure and reliable data acquisition.
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with laboratory SMEs, QA, validation teams, and IT support to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Create technical documentation, functional specifications, and validation-ready configuration records.
Support system upgrades, testing cycles, patching, and validation activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating laboratory instruments using RS232 or TCP/IP protocols.
Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, clinical, or environmental laboratory operations.
Experience with STARLIMS legacy components (XFD runtime) and modernization projects.
Knowledge of SDLC principles, Agile methodologies, and validation practices.
Skill - Required / Desired - Amount of Experience
2-5 years of Hands-on experience with STARLIMS v10/v11/v12 (or equivalent LIMS platform). - Required - 2 Years
Proficiency in STARLIMS Scripting Language (SSL), JavaScript/JScript.NET, and SQL. - Required - 5 Years
Strong understanding of HTML5-based UI frameworks. - Required - 5 Years
Experience with SAP Crystal Reports development. - Required - 5 Years
Understanding of laboratory workflows, QA/QC processes, and regulated environments (e.g., GMP, GLP, CLIA, ISO 17025) - Desired - 2 Years
5-8 years of Experience with Microsoft .NET Framework environments. - Highly desired - 5 Years
Familiarity with XML for data structure definitions. - Highly desired - 5 Years
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Database administration concepts. - Nice to have - Years
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and stakeholders. - Required - 7 Years
