Ontic is a leading global aerospace OEM trusted by the world’s aviation leaders. Ontic’s Chatsworth, CA, site specializes in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence. With over 1,400 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.

Our team is looking for a General Manager at our Chatsworth Location. The General Manager is the senior executive leader responsible for the overall performance of Ontic’s Chatsworth business and reports directly to the Senior Vice President, West Coast. The General Manager has full accountability for safety, Operations, delivery, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and employee engagement. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the business consistently meets or exceeds operational and financial objectives while supporting Ontic’s mission of providing long-term sustainment solutions for mature and legacy aerospace products.

As the site leader, the General Manager drives operational excellence across manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, continuous improvement, environmental health and safety, and customer programs. The role is responsible for executing the annual operating plan, achieving financial commitments, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with all aerospace regulatory and customer requirements.

The General Manager partners closely with the site’s Commercial, Finance, and Human Resources leadership to develop and execute business strategy, drive profitable growth, optimize financial performance, strengthen organizational capability, and ensure the site has the talent, culture, and customer focus necessary to achieve its long-term objectives.

General Manager Responsibilities: Business Leadership
  • Provide overall leadership for the Chatsworth business with full P&L accountability.

  • Develop and execute the site’s strategic operating plan aligned with Ontic’s global business strategy and long-term growth objectives.

  • Lead the business to achieve or exceed commitments for revenue, EBIT, cash flow, working capital, and operational performance.

  • Develop credible recovery plans when performance gaps occur and ensure disciplined execution to achieve business commitments.

  • Drive profitable growth through operational excellence, customer satisfaction, productivity improvements, and strategic investment.

Operational Excellence
  • Provide strategic oversight of manufacturing and support functions to achieve world-class performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by championing Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence principles across the site.

  • Ensure continuous improvement initiatives drive the elimination of waste, increased productivity, improved operational performance, and enhanced customer value.

  • Promote operational discipline through the effective use of key performance indicators, tiered accountability, and structured problem-solving to achieve business objectives.

  • Partner with Operations and Engineering leadership to establish capital planning and manufacturing investment priorities that support capacity, modernization, automation, and long-term business growth.

Aerospace Quality & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with FAA regulations, AS9100 Quality Management System requirements, customer-specific requirements, export compliance regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

  • Foster a proactive quality culture emphasizing first-pass yield, root cause corrective action, product conformity, and zero escapes.

  • Ensure successful completion of customer, regulatory, and certification audits.

  • Promote a culture where safety, product integrity, and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable.

Customer Leadership
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with OEM customers, defense customers, distribution partners, and key aerospace stakeholders.

  • Serve as the executive representative for customer visits, business reviews, strategic planning sessions, and operational performance discussions.

  • Ensure exceptional customer service through reliable delivery performance, responsive communication, and effective issue resolution.

  • Support Ontic’s unique aftermarket business model by ensuring long-term product availability, dependable supply, and outstanding customer support.

Financial Management

Own all aspects of financial performance including:

  • Revenue

  • EBIT

  • Cash Flow

  • Operating Working Capital

  • Inventory

  • Capital Expenditures

  • Productivity

  • Review financial results regularly and develop action plans to improve business performance.

  • Lead monthly operating reviews, forecast updates, annual operating planning, and long-range strategic planning.

  • Ensure accurate reporting consistent with corporate accounting standards and financial controls.

Leadership & Talent Development
  • Develop a high-performing leadership team focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Build organizational capability through succession planning, leadership development, coaching, and talent acquisition.

  • Foster an inclusive, engaged, and high-performance culture aligned with Ontic’s values.

  • Promote employee development, recognition, communication, and organizational effectiveness.

Strategic Growth
  • Identify opportunities for operational expansion, new product introductions, transferred product lines, and acquisition integration.

  • Partner with Corporate Development and executive leadership to support new business opportunities and strategic growth initiatives.

  • Encourage innovation in manufacturing technologies, engineering capabilities, digital transformation, and operational processes.

Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and Ontic EHS standards.

  • Promote employee wellness and safe manufacturing practices throughout the facility.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Prepare executive-level reports including MMRs, MBRs, Quarterly and financial planning / budget reviews

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives supporting enterprise-wide operational excellence.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field required.

  • MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Experience
  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.

  • 7+ years leading multi-functional manufacturing organizations with full P&L responsibility.
