Job description

We are looking for a Systems Engineer 5 / DSP Algorithms Engineer to support the development of next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems. This role will work across the system lifecycle, from concept development and trade studies through satellite unit development, integration, testing, and in-orbit operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop RF and digital satellite communication systems
  • Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point DSP algorithms
  • Perform performance analysis of signal-processing models
  • Develop and characterize communications waveforms
  • Conduct system-level trade studies
  • Support payload and spacecraft integration and testing
  • Support HDL-level design and verification
  • Perform detailed system design and verification activities
  • Work with customers, suppliers, program management, and integration/test teams
  • Lead engineering teams and R&D activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in digital communications and signal processing theory
  • Experience with DSP/digital communications algorithms such as:
    • Equalization
    • Turbo/Viterbi coding and decoding
    • Channel estimation
    • Filter design
    • Resampling
    • Multi-rate signal processing
  • 3+ years of MATLAB or Simulink experience
  • 3+ years of systems engineering experience, including requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture, and trade studies
  • 1+ year of FPGA or ASIC experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and spectrum analyzers
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience with satellite, space, RF, or digital communications systems
  • 14+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
