KPMG is currently seeking an Associate / Senior Associate - Data Analytics, R&D Tax Credit (AMCS) to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the preparation and analysis of large and complex datasets (for example, general ledger, payroll, time tracking, and operational data) in support of R&D tax credit studies
  • Clean, transform, and normalize structured and unstructured datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and usability for both data analysis and tax credit calculations
  • Partner with Research & Development (R&D) tax professionals to translate raw data into structured outputs that support credit calculations, technical documentation, and defensible tax positions
  • Build and maintain repeatable data workflows and transformation processes using tools such as Alteryx, SQL, or similar platforms
  • Identify data anomalies, trends, and inconsistencies, and assist engagement teams in validating datasets and performing analyses that support R&D credit claims
  • Document data processes, methodologies, and outputs to support audit readiness, consistency across engagements, and knowledge transfer
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment

Additional Responsibility for Senior Associate:
  • Design scalable data solutions and workflow automation, and take a more active role in R&D engagements by independently supporting data-driven analyses, contributing to credit calculations, and improving overall delivery efficiency

Qualifications:
  • Minimum one year of recent experience in data analytics, data transformation, or related roles within a public accounting firm, consulting firm, or corporate environment
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; preferred degrees include data analytics, information systems, computer science, engineering, accounting, or a related field
  • Familiarity with data tools and technologies such as Excel (advanced formulas), Alteryx, SQL, Python, AI-enabled tools, and similar platforms to support data analysis, workflow efficiency, and automation
  • Experience working with large datasets, including data cleansing, validation, and transformation
  • Solid understanding of financial, operational, or transactional data and how it supports business or tax analyses, including R&D tax credit studies
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Additional Qualification for Senior Associate:
  • Minimum two years of recent, relevant experience with demonstrated ability to build repeatable data workflows, manage multiple datasets or workstreams, and support engagement teams in delivering data-driven and credit-related analyses
