Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Linux / Android HAL / VHAL Senior Developer to join our Automotive Software team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Embedded Linux, Android Automotive OS (AAOS), Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), and Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL) development. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating software components that enable seamless communication between Android Automotive and vehicle hardware systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop embedded software for Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
  • Develop, customize, and maintain Android HAL modules for automotive hardware.
  • Design and implement Vehicle HAL (VHAL) services to interface with vehicle ECUs.
  • Integrate Android Automotive with vehicle subsystems such as:
    • Climate Control
    • HVAC
    • Instrument Cluster
    • Vehicle Speed
    • Battery Management
    • Powertrain
    • Door Controls
    • Lighting
  • Develop Linux device drivers and middleware components.
  • Debug low-level software issues using Android and Linux debugging tools.
  • Work with CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and automotive communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with hardware, BSP, middleware, and application teams.
  • Optimize software performance, memory usage, and boot time.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow Automotive SPICE and MISRA guidelines where applicable.
Required Skills
  • 8+ years of Embedded Software Development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C and C++.
  • Strong experience with Embedded Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
  • Extensive experience developing Android HAL.
  • Strong knowledge of Vehicle HAL (VHAL).
  • Experience with AIDL/HIDL interfaces.
  • Experience with Android Framework and Binder IPC.
  • Knowledge of Linux Kernel architecture and device drivers.
  • Familiarity with Android build systems (AOSP, Soong, Make).
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD tools.
  • Strong debugging skills using GDB, Logcat, ADB, and Linux tools.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Automotive ECUs.
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet.
  • Experience with AUTOSAR (Classic or Adaptive).
  • Familiarity with Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS).
  • Experience with Qualcomm, NXP, Renesas, or TI automotive platforms.
  • Understanding of ISO 26262 Functional Safety.
  • Experience with Automotive SPICE processes.
  • Knowledge of SELinux and Android Security.
Education
