Job description

The Sr. Manager of Product is a leadership role focused on leveraging deep industry expertise, market vision, and customer understanding. The Sr. Manager Product successfully leads a portfolio of products and creates business value under their product lines that directly influences and aligns to targeted organizational outcomes. The Sr. Manager Product owns operational success metrics, staffing plans, resource allocation, and product vision. They are measured by equity value creation, market and thought leadership, and success metrics associated to implementation of their strategic bets. The Sr. Manager Product works with all levels of leadership from front-line users/customers through to the C-Suite ensuring that their products are feasible, viable, usable, and valuable. The primary responsibility of the Sr. Manager Product is to drive innovation in transportation, acquire-delight-retain customers, and ensure safety and performance of our users with high levels of satisfaction. They will lead the product development lifecycle of multiple products and position Werner as a leader in the broader transportation landscape.
Responsibilities:
  • Clearly understand the industry and industry trends that will drive future innovation in transportation and logistics
  • Know the financial impacts of the fiscally responsible decisions they are making and figure out how to win business
  • Understand the competitive landscape and market fit for new products/services that may be developed
  • Clearly articulate the value proposition, vision and strategy of products under their leadership
  • Serve as an evangelist, both internally and externally, for the industry and products they lead
  • Participate in variety of industry events and conferences, user and peer groups, and present at such venues on relevant industry and product topics
  • Research and bring potential partnership opportunities that may open new markets or enhance current product offerings
  • Create a culture of empowerment within their team, built on trust and transparency with clear expectations of ownership and accountability
  • Have strong people skills and build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, team and cross-team members
  • Fully embrace and lead go-to-market planning from concept through delivery
  • Drive product innovation and excellence through strategic vision and planning activities
  • Create appropriate budget and staffing plans to support their investments
  • Take calculated risks to leverage emerging technologies through continuous experimentation
  • Deliver superior product and business results aligned to the key objectives of organization
  • Other duties assigned by supervisory personnel
  • Lead a team of resources including product analysts, owners, managers, and potentially marketers, designers.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required, Master's Degree is preferred
  • 10+ years of previous experience in a Product role
  • Previous technical experience, while not required is advised
  • Previous transportation experience is highly desired
  • Self-starter with a hyper focus on KPI's such as adoption, revenue, retention, compliance, savings, etc.
  • Curiosity, creativity and willingness to break out of constraints or the status quo
  • Willingness to take risks, experiment and prototype in a rapid fashion
  • Strong leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to make decisions and priority calls based on currently available information
  • Great people skills and ability to collaborate and successfully work in teams
  • Ensures expected outcomes are understood and measurable
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to run data queries to produce product related KPI reports and metrics
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to constantly changing industry and company requirements
  • Ability to learn and understand technical concepts and tools necessary for their specific job duties
  • Time management skills and proven ability to work on time-sensitive deliverables
