Understanding the differences helps clarify whether you're focusing on programming languages or the broader role of Android app creation.

What are Kotlin Java developers?

Kotlin Java developers are professionals skilled in both the Kotlin and Java programming languages. They typically work on building, maintaining, and optimizing applications, especially for the Android platform, since both languages are widely used for Android development. These developers leverage Java's robustness and Kotlin's modern features to create efficient, reliable, and scalable software solutions. Their expertise allows for seamless migration between Java and Kotlin codebases and the integration of new features using either language.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Kotlin/Java Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Kotlin/Java Developer, you need a solid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and proficiency in both Kotlin and Java languages, often supported by a degree in computer science or related fields. • Experience building cloud-native backend services using Spring Boot, Kotlin, or similar JVM technologies highly preferred.

  • Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture, microservices, and RESTful API design highly preferred.

  • Experience with cloud-native development on AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) highly preferred.

  • Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and data modeling highly preferred.

  • Ability to balance technical, analytical, and product considerations in solution design highly preferred.

  • Exposure to Okta (IAM), Grafana (monitoring / observability); Geocoding API preferred.
