Job description

We are seeking an experienced Patent Agent who is fluent in both English and Korean (written and spoken) to join our Prosecution & Counseling department. This role is ideal for a current Patent Agent with a strong technical background who is interested in applying their expertise to intellectual property strategy, patent preparation, and prosecution for clients that span from major consumer products companies and academic institutions to start-up companies. This position can be based in our Boston, New York, or Washington, DC office, or fully remote.

Patent agents with at least two (2+) years of current law firm experience will be considered.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft, file, and prosecute high-quality patent applications
  • Prepare responses to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) office actions
  • Conduct examiner interviews and perform freedom to operate analyses
  • Conduct scientific, technical and legal research to support prosecution and portfolio strategy

The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or a related field of study
  • Fluency in both English and Korean (written and spoken)
  • Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required
  • Minimum of two (2+) years of law firm patent preparation and prosecution experience
  • Sound judgment, maturity, and an inquisitive nature with a strong work ethic paired with the ability to juggle multiple job responsibilities
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with business leaders, attorneys, scientists, engineers, inventors, and patent examiners
  • A demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service, and a creative and strategic approach to prosecution
