Job description

At Anyscale, we're on a mission to democratize distributed computing and make it accessible to software developers of all skill levels. We're commercializing Ray, a popular open-source project that's creating an ecosystem of libraries for scalable machine learning. Companies like OpenAI, Uber, Spotify, Instacart, Cruise, and many more, have Ray in their tech stacks to accelerate the progress of AI applications out into the real world.
With Anyscale, we're building the best place to run Ray, so that any developer or data scientist can scale an ML application from their laptop to the cluster without needing to be a distributed systems expert.
Proud to be backed by Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, and Addition with $250+ million raised to date.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced People Operations Manager to own and help scale our core People programs. This role will partner closely with the Head of People to build operational infrastructure, drive cross functional initiatives, and ensure our People programs execute consistently as the company grows. This person will operate with a high degree of autonomy and help mature the overall People function.
What You'll Do
  • Own the operational execution for end-to-end HR operations: onboarding/offboarding, HRIS administration, benefits administration, and compliance
  • Manage and continuously improve our HRIS (Rippling experience preferred) and related People systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve how we work, building scalable processes that reduce manual effort and enable us to grow efficiently
  • Lead cross functional initiatives with Finance, Legal, IT and other business leaders to improve operational effectiveness and employee experience.
  • Provide day to day operational leadership and mentorship to the HR Operations team, helping establish priorities, improve execution and develop team capability.
  • Own execution of company-wide People programs, including performance reviews, promotions, compensation cycles, and engagement surveys.
  • Serve as the operational lead for People projects (eg: performance review cycles, engagement surveys, and compliance training), ensuring initiatives are delivered on time and with a high level of quality.
  • Use People data and metrics to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support business decisions.
  • Act as the primary operational escalation point for complex HR issues.
What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in HR Operations, People Ops, or a related HR generalist role, ideally at a high-growth startup
  • Hands-on experience owning an HRIS and related People tech stack
  • Demonstrated experience building People infrastructure from the ground up with the ability to operate independently and influence cross functional stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements (federal and multi-state)
  • Excellent process and project management skills; comfort building things from scratch
  • High attention to detail and strong judgment handling confidential information
  • Clear, empathetic communicator who can support employees at all levels
Nice to Have
  • Experience scaling HR operations through a period of rapid headcount growth
  • Experience with global/international HR operations

Compensation
We believe in transparent pay practices. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $175,000 - $210,223 annually. Final salary depends on experience, relevant skills, qualifications, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible employees receive equity awards and enjoy a comprehensive benefits package designed to support their health, well-being, and financial future.
Why Anyscale
  • We're on a mission to make scalable computing effortless. Ray is the AI Compute Engine at the center of some of the world's most powerful AI platforms
  • Our tech is in production at companies like OpenAI, Uber, Spotify, Instacart, and Cruise
  • We're backed by Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, and Addition, with $250M+ raised to date
  • Recent partnerships with Azure, CoreWeave, and Google Cloud are putting AI-native compute directly into enterprise environments
  • Competitive salary and equity, plus health/dental/vision coverage (many plans up to 99% employer-covered)
  • We offer flexible time off, paid parental leave, and mental health support
