Our thrift stores play a vital role in supporting our mission by generating funding for our programs and offering affordable goods to the public.
We are seeking a dedicated Shift Manager to help lead store operations, drive excellent customer service, and foster a positive team environment.
Position Summary
The Shift Manager oversees daily store operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth workflow, strong customer service, accurate inventory control, and adherence to company standards. This role leads and supports team members to achieve performance goals while maintaining a positive, productive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Supervision
  • Lead, train, and motivate retail staff during assigned shifts.
  • Delegate responsibilities and ensure efficient task completion.
  • Conduct shift-start team briefings to outline goals and expectations.
  • Address and resolve conflicts or performance concerns as they arise.

Customer Service
  • Ensure customers receive outstanding service and support.
  • Resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and returns quickly and professionally.
  • Monitor team interactions to maintain high service standards.

Operational Management
  • Manage daily store operations, including opening and closing tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store environment.
  • Oversee cash handling, register balancing, and bank deposits.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and loss prevention procedures.

Sales & Performance
  • Support achievement of sales goals, including upselling and promotions.
  • Monitor KPIs such as sales revenue, customer satisfaction, and labor productivity.
  • Provide feedback to the Store Manager on performance, trends, and opportunities.

Inventory Management
  • Conduct routine stock checks to ensure accuracy and availability.
  • Coordinate restocking and visual merchandising.
  • Report inventory shortages, damages, or theft.

Administrative Duties
  • Complete shift documentation accurately and on time.
  • Provide detailed shift reports and communicate issues to Store Manager.

Qualifications
  • One (1) year of retail or customer service experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Additional education in business or retail management is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage customer concerns calmly and professionally.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and personnel requirements.
  • Familiarity with POS systems.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and travel when needed.

Essential Requirements
Physical Requirements
Employees must be able to:
  • Sit, stand, walk, hear, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment
