Description:

SUMMARY

The Solar Technician III is responsible for the operation of site equipment and systems on multiple plants in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally correct manner. Performs safe and reliable operation of the Solar PV and Battery facility equipment and other power plant systems. Performs inspection of watch, operation, and troubleshooting of all site equipment and systems. Optimize site performance in full compliance with operating agreements, all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)

  • Executes site permitting processes, including ensuring completeness of pre-job safety briefs, and managing LOTO process.
  • Observe and monitor overall site operations, ensuring power production is maintained at optimal level and efficiency. Coordinate with Operating Control Team, off-takers, and suppliers to ensure safe and optimal operations.
  • Report normal, abnormal, or emergency plant conditions to site Leadership and Management. Take all necessary corrective action(s) in accordance with established policy, procedure, or at the direction of site leadership.
  • Executes site restoration after abnormal events and significant outages.
  • Performs troubleshooting and operational systems and equipment resets, as applicable.
  • Performs inspections of computer, substation and electrical systems, as applicable, to support operating agreements and system reliability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE

Basic knowledge of electrical equipment, capacities limitations, theories of operation and operating procedures. Basic knowledge of electrical test equipment and troubleshooting. Basic to intermediate computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and inspection instructions; procedure manuals; prints and engineering data; interpret charts, graphs and gauge scales; troubleshoot equipment and system problems; and interface with others. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, ability to use a radio, and be able to speak effectively before groups of people


REASONING ABILITY & DECISION-MAKING SKILLS

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to spend considerable time sitting at a computer console. Frequently answering the phone or radio throughout a 12-hour shift. The team member is occasionally required to perform equipment inspections which may require kneeling or crouching. The team member must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Required to work a rotating shift with normal shifts up to 12 hours per day and will be required to work alone during night shifts and weekends. Overtime required as needed.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the team members can be exposed to hazards of operating power plants. The team member is frequently exposed to multiple computer screens, The team member is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat or cold temperatures.
