Title: Handwork Teacher Assistant 35 hrs per week
$15-19/hr, dependent on experience and education

Mountain Sunrise is a Waldorf-inspired Kindergarten - 6th grade charter school in Utah County. We are located on the border of Saratoga Springs and Lehi, on the banks of beautiful Utah lake, surrounded by the majestic Wasatch mountain range. We offer a whole-child education model that strives to develop the head, heart and hands of each child. We value arts-integration, experiential learning, and nature.
Description: Mountain Sunrise teachers are expected to create and maintain a professional program true to the ideals of Waldorf pedagogy.
We are seeking candidates who are innovative, creative and flexible and ready to join us wholeheartedly in continuing to develop a unique Waldorf-based educational environment. Our ideal candidate will strive for excellence in teaching and be committed to dialogue with parents and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, pedagogy, and methods of Waldorf education
  • Assist in the teaching of students in grades 1-6 fiber arts techniques such as knitting, crochet, cross stitch, and sewing
  • The successful candidate will meet students at their current capacities while teaching practical life skills and aesthetics leading towards a well rounded education
  • Good communication and collaboration with all stakeholders
  • Show effective classroom management
  • Work with individual children who need guidance
  • Facilitate daily/weekly rhythms through intentional lesson planning and provide a safe and healthy classroom environment.
  • Care for the physical and emotional well-being of the children
  • Care for the physical environment which includes maintaining a beautiful classroom that is clean and orderly.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in and knowledge of a variety of fiber arts
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children
  • Regularly able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
