Job description

For 40 years, Kids on the Move has been a cornerstone of support for families and children across Utah. We've built a legacy based on genuine care, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous improvement in the services we provide. Our team is dedicated to empowering families, and we pride ourselves on creating a supportive environment where both staff and families grow together. The impact we've had on the community over these four decades speaks to our mission of creating lasting, positive change for children and their families.

As a Kitchen Floater, you’ll play a unique and impactful role supporting both our Early Head Start and Child Care programs. This position combines kitchen responsibilities with classroom support—helping ensure children receive nutritious meals while also contributing to a safe, engaging learning environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, values teamwork, and is passionate about supporting young children’s growth and well-being.

Join our team at Kids on the Move and help us create healthy, nurturing environments for children to thrive.

Requirements & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with approved menus and food safety guidelines
  • Assist with grocery shopping and maintaining kitchen inventory
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment daily
  • Track and follow all child food allergies and dietary needs
  • Deliver meals to classrooms and support meal service as needed
  • Provide classroom support by assisting with daily routines, supervision, and transitions
  • Help maintain safe, clean, and organized classroom environments
  • Collaborate with teachers and program staff to meet Head Start and Child Care standards
  • Attend staff meetings and program meetings as required
  • Assist with occasional evening events (e.g., health fairs, parent engagement nights)
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience working with food
  • Some experience working with infants and toddlers
  • Valid Food Handler Permit
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Intermediate computer/tablet proficiency

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • Knowledge of CACFP regulations and Head Start standards
Schedule
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Year-round position
  • Occasional schedule variations and evening events
Benefits
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Stable, consistent schedule
  • Supportive, team-oriented work environment
  • Opportunity to make a direct impact in children’s lives
