Job description

TITLE: KITCHEN  MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position will manage kitchen operations within the Camdenton School District to ensure that quality meals with a variety of healthy food choices to students and staff in a clean and cheerful atmosphere are consistently provided.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate and School Nutrition Association certification preferred.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Good health, free from any communicable disease, and clean in personal habits and dress.
  • Experience in the preparation of a wide variety of food on a quantity basis.
  • Working knowledge of cashiering and computers.
  • Such alternatives to above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • 10 hours of continuing education/training in school nutrition services

REPORTS TO:  Food Services Director

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Faculty / Support Staff Expectations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Assign and supervise work of food service staff.
  • Arrange for substitutes when necessary and report absentees to the food service office.
  • Attend manager meetings as scheduled by the Food Services Director.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise the daily cleaning of kitchen, cafeteria, and equipment and report to the Food Services Director any break downs of equipment.
  • Oversee the closing of computers and locking of milk boxes, store room, and kitchen.
  • Recommend the time of arrival and time of departure to best suit this particular school building to the Food Services Director.

Food Production & Service

  • Place weekly orders for food and supplies.
  • Properly store all food and supplies upon delivery.
  • Determine the quantity of food to be prepared each day and ensure proper serving sizes to meet the necessary requirements of the National School Breakfast, Lunch, and After School Snack Programs.
  • Maintain recipes for all menu items.
  • Cooperate with building Principal in conducting the food service program and related activities.
  • Assist and prepare food according to planned menus and determine if the finished product is acceptable in appearance and flavor before serving.

Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain a high quality of safety and cleanliness in all aspects of the kitchen and dining area to comply with county and state health codes.
  • Verify and sign invoices of food shipments.
  • Complete daily production record reports.
  • Conduct inventories of food and supplies.
  • Report any accidents or problems to the Food Service Director.
  • Perform the duties assigned by the Food Services Director in an efficient manner.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Scheduled Work Days:  178 days; 7.5 hrs / day. Does not include a 30 minute lunch
  • Pay range:  Starting at $18.35/hr (plus credit for up to 7 years of relevant experience)
  • Benefits include Board paid health insurance, paid sick leave, retirement and other

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
