Purchasing Manager
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Manager will report directly to the Director of Procurement. They will research and purchase raw materials to be used in the manufacturing of RCO products, including curing and kitchen products. They will assist and train procurement specialists and inventory specialists as needed. This position requires a driven, forward thinking, and detail-oriented individual who is responsible for purchasing and maintaining appropriate inventory levels of quality products for our business as well as helping lead the team. This position requires a team player, a positive attitude, initiative & drive, and an aptitude for analyzing and decision making.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and maintains current inventory for all purchased items
  • Analyzes department for improvements and new processes
  • Researches, analyzes, selects, and purchases raw materials, making insightful buying decisions
  • Aids in forecasting current and future buying trends
  • Leads the purchasing team in strategic buying decisions
  • Work with Procurement Director on inventory goals
  • Initiate Supply Agreement discussions with Procurement Director and top suppliers
  • Be involved with Product Development and quality, making recommendations as required
  • Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers
  • Assesses financial risks of purchases and communicates changes with management
  • Works with the scheduler to coordinate production work orders
  • Communication to management on issues, changes and/or late deliveries
  • Arranging transport of goods and tracking orders to ensure timely deliveries
  • Coordinating with inventory & receiving team as required
  • Be involved in the assessment of quality issues for stock items and escalate discrepancies to suppliers and management
  • Coordinate sourcing on new items as requested
  • Continuous review of department for process improvement
  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • MRP experience a plus
  • Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy Ability to compile information and make decisions
  • Ability to work under pressure

Education and Experience:
  • At least 5+ years of Purchasing Experience, manufacturing environment preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
  • Proven ability to lead a team with excellent communication skills
  • ERP knowledge required
  • Logistics experience a plus

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
