KITCHEN / BATH DESIGNER


Department: Sales Job Status: Full Time

  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Store Manager
  • Grade/Level: N/A Amount of Travel Required: 25% 
  • Work Schedule: Positions Supervised: N/A 
  • Five to Six Days per week 
  • Participate in Company functions/Seminars/Shows




POSITION SUMMARY

The Kitchen / Bath designer is expected to work with clients to discuss all aspects of creating, remodeling, or updating the Kitchen / Bath area of their home. Topics of discussion with the customer would include building materials, themes, colors, patterns, and room layout. The Kitchen / Bath designer would produce drawings based upon information customer provides. 

Must be able to utilize 20 20 system. Must be familiar with the various products available thru Whites Lumber, Inc.


KEY INDICATORS: 1) Wait on customers with a positive and friendly demeanor


2) Place special orders in a timely fashion.


3) Adhere to Company safety policies and rules


DUTIES:


Meet with customers and discuss with them their kitchen plans, ascertaining the scope of the project, ascertain from the customer their budget they may have, and design accordingly.


Provide the customer information on the various cabinets/bath products available thru Whites, their respective components, various price range.


Obtain the kitchen/bath measurements including window and door openings and plot tentative kitchen/bath layout in the 2020 program.


Review with the customer hardware available and assist in the selection.


Review with the customer the flooring options available.

Kitchen/Bath Designer



Generate a 2020 kitchen design for the customer to preview.


Review plan design/details/sizes with customer and once order is accepted and signed off by customer, place order with supplier.


Countertops Manufactured by Whites:


Review with the customer countertop options and assist in their selection


Obtain dimensions from the customer/contractor. If unavailable, job site visit may be required to measure.


Once order is obtained from the customer/contractor, review the order for any omissions/deletions with the customer/contractor.  


Prior to processing order, countertop order form will be completed by the Designer, reviewed with customer/contractor and then signed off by customer/contractor.


Non-stocked items, order will be submitted to supplier, once received the countertop will be manufactured by White's as per countertop order form.


Completed countertop form will be submitted to the Store Manager for processing.


Advise customer of tentative date of completion.



Vendor installed tops:


Review with customer/contractor available special order options available.


Once selection is made, customer/contractor must sign off all necessary documents for special orders including placing deposit on order for all non "non-inhouse charge customers."


Coordinate details of product selection including but not limited to counter topping, faucets, sink models with the providing supplier.


Coordinate on-site visit between all parties (supplier, customer, contractor).


Submit order to supplier.




Kitchen/ Bath Designer


Other Duties:


Generate all sales / credits / returns utilizing White's Lumber point of sale system.


Review acknowledgement from supplier for accuracy on the cabinetry and pricing.


Advise customer of tentative date of order's arrival to White's and coordinate delivery to customer.


Attend store meetings.


Participate / attend all required shows, seminars, meetings.


Submit travel expenses.


Address and / or attempt to resolve any customer complaints or issues in a timely fashion (within two business days).


Approve returns and issuing credit memos.


Provide advice to customers on proper materials, their usage, and techniques, especially to do-it-yourselfers.



Read trade magazines in order to keep abreast of trends and changes in the building industry.


Provide customers with advertising literature.


Help maintain store housekeeping and displays.


Being aware of items on sale or at discount prices.
