KIPP is a nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools with a 20-year track record of preparing students in educationally underserved communities for success in college and life. KIPP currently serves over 100,000 students in 242 schools across the country, including Indianapolis. KIPP Indy Public Schools (KIPP Indy) was founded in 2004 with one class of fifth-grade students and has grown to educate more than 1,000 students across three schools. By the 2022-2023 school year, KIPP Indy will educate nearly 1,500 students in the Martindale-Brightwood community on the Northeast side of Indianapolis. At KIPP Indy, we believe that all children will learn and achieve at high levels if given the opportunity. Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

KIPP Indy Public Schools (KIPP Indy) and Edna Martin Christian Center (EMCC) seek a Community and Family Engagement Manager who will play an integral role in ensuring that each network has the resources and support to fulfill its mission and support student success. The Community and Family Coordinator will serve as a member of the EMCC and KIPP Indy team, collaborate with school-based leadership teams and the KIPP Indy partnerships team, and advocate for KIPP Indy families. The Community and Family Coordinator will coordinate the activities of providers and community partners to deliver programs and services that improve learning conditions and increase student academic achievement and social-emotional success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Coordination

  • Support families in finding resources to support their overall well-being
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain a schedule of programs and services in the school
  • Identify new agencies and/or organizations that have resources to help increase academic success, improve the conditions for learning, and support social-emotional learning
  • Manage all volunteers in the school, develop volunteer opportunities, keep records of volunteer work, and regularly recognize their service to the school
  • Serve as a liaison to the community and attend external meetings, as needed, to support the advancement of family outcomes
  • Collaborate with school social workers to refer families to human service agencies and other resource providers
  • Collect program and service delivery information from providers and partners
  • Collaborate with EMCC and other community partners on at least two community-facing engagements to bridge collective partner and neighborhood engagement
  • Attend regular meetings with EMCC Family Services staff to ensure wrap-around service supports and referrals are being implemented with fidelity

Family Engagement

  • Collaborate with KIPP Indy to execute an effective family engagement strategy, including family communication and outreach.
  • Proactively engage families and community members to attend MBEZ and KIPP Indy events.
  • Efficiently run and support KIPP Indy's Family Resource Center
  • Coordinate family workshops and meetings
  • Collaborate with KIPP Indy regional and school-based leadership to develop a schedule of family programs, events, and services that directly support student success.
  • Maintain records of family engagement activities and collaborate with school leadership and teachers on family engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with families to create meaningful volunteer opportunities through our A+ Family Partnership Group.
  • Identify and connect with family and staff leaders to participate in our OG Family Action Council

School Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the KIPP Indy Managing Director of Family & Community Engagement and participate in weekly check-ins and team meetings to foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including students, families, and staff.
  • Collaborate to foster a culture that supports the school's vision and promotes respect and appreciation for all students, staff, and families
  • Develop and execute family engagement initiatives, communications, and events.
  • Working in partnership with KIPP Indy teams to collaborate in meeting/exceeding topline goals and priorities
  • Collaborate with the social services team to refer students to additional support services (e.g., health services, counseling services, mentorship programs), and to internal and external partners as necessary.
  • Collaborate with KIPP Forward to build Family Partnerships that encourage college, career, and beyond.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in education, community engagement or related fields

Starting Salary $50,000
