Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic leader to join our accounting team!
The Controller is responsible to help create an environment and culture that enables the organization to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying the company mission to direct report staff, holding direct reports accountable for performance, motivating staff to improve performance and being responsible for meeting the company's financial goals through measurement, assessment and continuous improvement of the company's performance.
The Controller directs and supervises the complete accounting system and financial function. This includes charges, billing, A/R, collections, A/P, payroll, general ledger, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, reports and audits.
Miracle Kids Success Academy (MKSA) is an early intervention day treatment clinic for children with special needs. Once children are referred to MKSA by their primary care physicians, they must receive a developmental screening. Then, they may be scheduled for therapy evaluations at MKSA or bring recent therapy evaluation reports done elsewhere. To receive Early Intervention Day Treatment habilitation services, a child must have a documented developmental disability or delay, as shown on the results of an annual comprehensive developmental evaluation and qualify for at least one therapy service. Those services include (but are not limited to) fine motor delays, sensory disorders, gross motor delays, speech-language delays, hearing disorders, feeding disorders, developmental delays, cognitive delays and medical needs.
MKSA typically treats children from birth to kindergarten. We expand our services during the summer months to include elementary school-aged children with special needs.
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for directing the establishment and enactment of all policies and procedures related to accounting. Oversees the management of the Accounting Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES
  • Participates in the strategic planning process in collaboration with the Vice President and CEO to ensure appropriate financial targets/goals are developed for the organization.
  • Implements financial goals and objectives ensuring alignment with facility business initiatives to meet the prescribed financial and budgetary parameters.
  • Operationalizes integration strategies in areas of financial performance, budgetary accountability, and standardization/consolidation of services.
  • Implements the annual financial plans and programs necessary to meet and support strategic direction established by the Vice President & CEO.
  • Provides fiscal oversite in areas of billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable & collections.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with Miracle Kids administrative staff to ensure efficiency, integration and standardization of financial practices. Evaluates, recommends and implements "best practices" to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Supports standardization through the consistent application of policies/procedures and legal compliance with all regulatory agencies working with human resources, information systems, compliance, etc.
  • Organizes and reports on financial data so that appropriate financial assumptions can be made for strategic and tactical planning purposes and makes recommendations to administrative leadership to ensure appropriate financial allocation of resources.
  • Implements work/system processes. Collaborates with Vice President, and CEO to develop financial goals and reporting systems which review utilization/standardization, resource management, information systems, and skill mix in order to monitor and manage labor costs.
  • Trains, mentors and supports entity finance staff ensuring team has appropriate resources, skills and knowledge to provide financial guidance and meet performance expectations of the facility management team.
  • Creates, maintains, interprets and presents on financial data to leadership within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Certification:
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.

Experience/ Knowledge required:
  • Minimum of two years of successful experience in an accounting or finance position or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/ Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
  • Computer skills which include a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, Quickbooks, payroll and Internet software
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices, and general business practices.
  • Ability to prepare financial statements and analyze financial data.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.
