Part-Time, $30 to $40 hourly
PART TIME Higher Level (8th & up) Credentialed MATH Teacher

We are hiring credentialed and/or experienced higher level math teachers to join our team of experienced and passionate educators. You must have at least two years of experience teaching math for grades 8 and above. Experience in teaching or tutoring trigonometry, statistics, or calculus is a plus. The ideal candidate for this position will have a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (Master’s Degree or Phd preferred).
The ideal candidate will teach a variety of math courses and differentiate instruction for learners at all levels.
You will be asked to lead a small student learning community (SLC) off-site at local schools or meet with students one-on-one at our Los Altos office. SLC is a learning community of up to 15 students. Hybrid teaching, with occasional online and mainly in-person instruction.
This position offers approximately 18-20 hours per week with opportunities for increased working hours, if interested. The workday will be Monday - Friday, approximately 3-7pm or 3:30-7:30pm with additional hours as requested and/or if desired.

Responsibilities
  • Create curriculum and lesson plans that meet the needs of the students
  • Teach engaging, rigorous, and relevant lessons daily
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and the founder
  • Be open to constructive criticism and feedback on teaching methodologies
  • Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the students
  • Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the progress of all students
  • Respond to the needs of the families and students
  • Implementing developmentally appropriate activities for the age group
Professional Qualifications:
Teachers applying for this position are required to have, at minimum:
  • The ideal candidate for this position will have at least two years of experience teaching higher level math and a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (Master’s Degree or Phd. preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge and familiarity with teaching or tutoring in the areas of calculus, Algebra 1 & 2, geometry and trigonometry. 
  • California Teaching or Child Development Permit, or demonstrated current eligibility to obtain a permit
  • Must have a strong passion for math, enjoy working with middle and upper school students, possess the emotional acuity and personality to inspire and engage kids, and maintain an excellent sense of humor.
  • Must be able to create a fun yet engaging curriculum
  • Understand how to facilitate a positive learning environment
While not required for consideration, we would prefer candidates to have:
  • AA or BA in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or a directly related field
  • 2 years experience as Lead Teacher in a classroom
