The Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (Pozez JCC), located in Fairfax, Virginia, is a nonprofit, social service organization that builds community and enriches lives. The Pozez JCC is a community connector, offering a variety of programs and services on the main campus, online and throughout Northern Virginia through its many partnerships. Quality programs and experiences, based on Jewish values, include early childhood education, after-school & day camps, social programs for families raising young children, J-Fit health & aquatics activities, adult learning and cultural programs, inclusion and disabilities services, community impact through volunteerism, and more. Programs are open to people of all ages and backgrounds.
J-Fit Kids Club Attendant (16+)
Department: Aquatics & Fitness
Reports To: Aquatics Director and Lead Kids Club Attendant
Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $13.50 - $14.00 per hour, based on experience
Position Summary
The J-Fit Kids Club Attendant helps create a safe, welcoming, and engaging childcare environment for children while their parents or guardians participate in fitness and wellness activities at the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia. Attendants assist with supervising children, leading activities, maintaining a clean space, and providing excellent customer service under the supervision of an adult staff member.
Schedule
  • Saturdays: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Sundays: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Additional hours may be available during holidays and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in supervising children to ensure a safe and positive environment.
  • Participate in age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, and creative play.
  • Greet and interact professionally with parents, children, and members.
  • Follow all Kids Club check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Assist with enforcing Kids Club policies and behavior expectations.
  • Notify the Lead Attendant of accidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, or emergencies.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary childcare area.
  • Assist with inspecting toys and equipment for safety concerns.
  • Communicate concerns regarding children or facility operations to the Lead Attendant or Aquatics Director.
  • Support holiday programming and family-centered events as needed.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that reflects the mission and values of the JCC.

Qualifications
Required
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work positively with children, families, members, and staff.

Supervision Requirement
  • Employees under the age of 18 will work under the direct supervision of a designated adult staff member who is at least 18 years old.
  • An adult staff member will be present and available at all times during operating hours.
  • Employees under the age of 18 may not be left solely responsible for operating the Kids Club.
  • Staff must follow all Kids Club policies and procedures at all times.

Preferred
  • Previous experience working with children through babysitting, camps, recreation programs, volunteer work, or similar settings.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate games and activities for children.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to children's needs and emergency situations.
