What is Kidney Smart and what does a Kidney Smart educator do?

Kidney Smart is an educational program designed to help individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) better understand their condition and learn how to manage it. A Kidney Smart educator is typically a healthcare professional, such as a nurse or dietitian, who leads classes and provides information on kidney health, treatment options, diet, and lifestyle changes. Their goal is to empower patients to make informed decisions about their care and improve their quality of life.

These skills are crucial for empowering patients to manage their kidney health effectively and ensuring they receive accurate, compassionate support.
