Job description

We are hiring a Full-Time Cook for the Kiddie Academy of Kirkland, an Educational Childcare and Preschool.
Job Description:
Our goal is to serve nutritious, wholesome meals and snacks cooked using as many fresh/local/organic ingredients as practically possible. We are looking for a full time chef who loves to cook healthy, delicious meals that will appeal to the palate of toddlers to five years old children at our academy.
The cook will have freedom, full control and responsibility for planning and preparation of meals and snacks in our state-of-the-art dream kitchen designed for a professional chef.
The cook will work from Monday to Friday and enjoy weekends off ! A typical workday will start at 7:00 AM and finish between 3:00 - 4:00 PM, leaving rest of the evening open!
Essential Functions:
  • Plans and prepares snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations.
  • Determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom.
  • Removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes accordingly.
  • Performs weekly food and supply inventory; submits list of needed items to Management.
  • Orders food and supply items from approved supplier, within budget set by Management.
  • Checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed.
  • Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same.
  • Keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested.

An ideal candidate will have:
  • At least 2 years of cooking experience
  • Experience in cooking for a school/pre-school will be a plus
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Food training in sanitation, food safety, nutrition, food preparation
  • Food Handler's Permit as required by WA state
