Job description

Who we are:

Ozlo is a Boston-based health tech start-up that's revolutionizing digital care for better sleep.

We are developing and manufacturing an ecosystem of sleep solutions – including the Ozlo

Sleepbuds ® – that use sophisticated technology and sound to unlock restorative sleep.

We have a compelling and credible vision to improve the lives of millions of people around the

world. We are working to scale a new version of an already successful consumer wellness

product, creating a truly game-changing experience for customers and eventually, patients.

We’re venture funded, and our crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter and Indiegogo has

already raised an additional $3M+ with compelling growth metrics -- see our informational

launch video and most-recent promo video.

What we’re building:

Our first-generation Sleepbuds ® are a consumer wellness product, and we already have strong

clinical data to support consumer wellness efficacy claims. Our next clinical trial – targeting a

massive and currently untreatable health issue – is scheduled to begin in the coming few

months. In parallel, we’ll soon begin work on our next-gen hardware platform, which will include

medical-grade biometric sensors and full regulatory compliance, which will be our springboard

into reimbursable digital therapeutics.

We’re now at a scale and growth trajectory that we need to expand our electrical engineering

team. This is a rare opportunity for you to leverage your diverse technical skills to help a high-

profile tech start-up achieve massive success.

Equal Opportunity employer:

We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity workplace and an Affirmative Action employer. We

are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex,

ancestry, national origin, citizenship, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, gender identity,

Veteran status, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.

Benefits:

We’re small but mighty and offer flexible vacation, full medical/dental/vision coverage (company

pays premiums in full for employees and qualified dependents), matching 401(k), disability and

group life insurance, FSA coverage, wellness reimbursement, flexible (and balanced) hours, a

remote/hybrid work policy, employee discounts, and more.

Compensation:

Base salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

What’s in it for you:

We’re building an Advanced Development group that will pave the way for our future! The skill

sets we expect are that of a senior level electrical engineer, but added to that you’re required to

take risks, be curious, and work on projects that seem impossible! One of our interview

questions is always “do you like to teach or learn”, and as you might suspect, “both” is the

correct answer! At Ozlo we’re serious about technology, but we like to have fun! If pushing your

technical knowledge sounds fun to you, then you should consider!

Responsibilities:

● Contribute individually and collectively to the design of analog, digital, and wireless

electronics through all phases of development: concept, design, layout, prototyping and

bench testing

● Perform schematic capture and oversee layout for hardware products, including

participation in PCBA bring-up and characterization.

● Design, plan, and execute experiments and lab tests; document the method and results.

● Work with external partners to incorporate deep research into our advanced

development products.

● Dedicate time to study new products and be on the bleeding edge of technology –

including new SoC’s, memory devices, analog front ends, etc.

● Domestic and international travel (to engage with external research, etc.) at 10-15%

Qualifications:

● BS Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years’ experience.

● Strong first-principal design methodology, deriving the physics behind your work is a

plus!

● Understanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of electrical engineering such as

concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation,

integration, verification/validation, and qualification.

● Understand that our Advanced Development team designs with product in mind, and

that at some point our work will be handed off to a development team! This will force you

to understand our current product (and active designs) in detail.

● Experience developing wearable consumer products from concept to production.

● Experience with Altium design tools SPICE simulation, and Audio Measurement tools (or

willingness to learn)

● Experience with embedded microprocessors, sensors, Bluetooth, WIFI, and

management of electrical interconnects.

● Switch mode power supply design: Fundamental understanding of switching topologies,

device stress an analysis, control systems and system level implementation

● Experience with Lithium-Ion battery systems (chargers, safety, capacity calculations,

etc.)

● Experience with optics, EEG and Analog Front Ends (AFE’s) is a plus!

● Proven track record of board-level design, including schematic capture, PCB design in

both analog/mixed-signal/power electronic and digital domains.

● Experience troubleshooting sophisticated circuit issues and EMI/EMC/ESD mitigation.

● Strong culture fit (integrity, passion, confidence with humility, comfort with ambiguity,

collaborative style, and purpose-driven desire to help humanity).

● Ability and willingness to roll up your sleeves and participate across the board, even

helping with development tasks when needed.
