LKA Schools is a system of tuition free, public charter schools which provides evidence-based instruction for students with dyslexia. We are looking for a Special Education Coordinator to oversee the functions of our Special Education department at our Jefferson campus. The Special Education Coordinator manages special education programs and services while ensuring adherence to federal and state laws and policies as well as alignment with the science of dyslexia and LKA's mission.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in education or a related field (preferred).

Ambassador of Louisiana Key Academy's mission and vision.

Performance Responsibilities:

Ensures compliance to established SPED policies, procedures and/or regulations.

Manages the Special Education budget and purchasing. 

Manages their school site's special education programs and services which include admissions, enrollment, evaluations, and the creation and upkeep of IEPs and 504 plans.

Manages and develops the school site's Special Education Case Managers and other Special Education team members. 

Leads IEP meetings in a manner which deepens the parents' understanding of dyslexia and their child's individual needs.

Provides coordination between LKA and their related service providers.

Serves as the Official Designated Representative on student IEPs.

Reviews students' IEPs for accuracy and alignment with LKA's mission.

Reports on specific metrics to the Special Education Director on a regular cycle.

Conducts reevaluation data reviews for all students with IEPs on a tri annual basis.

Communicates with teachers and other school staff regarding individual student needs.

Serves as a member of the school's leadership team, collaborating with the school's Principal and School Operations Officer on school-wide initiatives.

Supports school-wide initiatives such as student recruitment and family engagement.
