Position Summary
The Washington Commanders are seeking a data-driven leader to join our organization as Director, Content & Marketing Analytics, with primary responsibility for leading analytics and insights across content performance, digital platforms, and marketing initiatives. This role will serve as the central analytics partner for Marketing, Content and Digital leadership, providing strategic insights that influence fan reach, engagement, acquisition, and long-term brand growth.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of digital content ecosystems, including social media platforms, owned-and-operated digital channels (web and mobile app), and performance marketing. This individual can translate complex behavioral data into actionable insights that improve content strategy, optimize marketing investment, and deepen fan engagement across the fan lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Executive Support
  • Lead analytics initiatives in support of Marketing, Content, Digital, and Growth leadership
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform content strategy, channel prioritization, and marketing investment decisions
  • Partner with senior leadership on planning, goal-setting, and measurement frameworks tied to fan growth and engagement
  • Support long-term strategic initiatives related to brand expansion, digital transformation, and audience development

Content Analytics (Social, Web, App)
  • Own performance measurement and insights across social media platforms, team website, and mobile app
  • Analyze audience reach, engagement, consumption patterns, and platform-specific behaviors to inform content strategy
  • Evaluate content effectiveness by format, platform, theme, and timing to optimize editorial planning and distribution
  • Develop audience growth and engagement dashboards that track performance against KPIs across channels
  • Partner with internal teams to design experiments and measure the impact of new content formats and features

Marketing & Growth Analytics
  • Lead analytics for marketing campaigns across paid, owned, and earned channels
  • Measure marketing effectiveness across the fan lifecycle, including awareness, acquisition, engagement, and retention
  • Develop attribution and performance frameworks to optimize media mix and campaign returns
  • Identify opportunities to improve conversion rates and fan lifetime value
  • Provide strategic and analytical support to international efforts (including Global Markets Program) and third-party events business

Reporting, Insights & Data Strategy
  • Own executive dashboards and reporting frameworks that track content performance, digital engagement, and marketing KPIs
  • Ensure insights are communicated in clear, compelling formats tailored to executive, marketing, and creative audiences
  • Drive continuous improvement in data quality, tracking, and measurement across digital platforms
  • Partner with product, technology, and marketing operations teams to ensure accurate instrumentation and data integration
  • Champion best practices in experimentation, audience analytics, and data storytelling across the organization

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Marketing, Statistics, or a related field
  • 8-12+ years of progressive experience in analytics, strategy, business intelligence, or marketing analytics
  • Demonstrated experience supporting content, digital, or marketing functions in professional sports, media, entertainment, or consumer-facing organizations
  • Deep familiarity with social media analytics, web analytics, and mobile app measurement frameworks
  • Advanced proficiency with analytical, visualization, and AI tools (SQL, Python, R, Tableau/Power BI, CoPilot, Claude Code)
  • Experience with digital analytics and marketing platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, social platform insights, and marketing automation tools)
  • Strong executive communication skills and ability to influence decisions through data storytelling
  • Experience designing experiments, measuring campaign lift, and evaluating content performance
  • Passion for professional sports and enhancing fan engagement through data-driven marketing and content strategies
