Lab Assistant
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Lab Assistant for a contract-to-hire position at a cutting-edge client in Signal Hill, CA. If you’re passionate about bringing the latest scientific discoveries to life and are ready to take the next step in your career, trust The Experts at Hiring Experts.
Pay: $21-23/hr
Schedule: Mon-Fri Day Shift
Overview
In this role, you’ll receive and manage inbound samples for testing, ensure supplies are available for laboratory operations, and support quality control and safety procedures in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Receives, examines, and records through a login process, inbound samples for testing
  • Delivers test samples to the staging area
  • Monitors the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and communicates needs to the Laboratory Manager
  • After demonstrating proficiency, performs testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology. Reviews results, issues analysis to clients as delegated
  • Prepares samples and quality control specimens, standardizes reagents and solutions, calibrates equipment required for testing
  • Verifies and communicates results, enters data into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and other required media for traceability
  • Maintains documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe condition
  • May assist in training less experienced employees upon proficiency
  • Follows all responsibilities in adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures, and all other Company policies
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience helpful
  • 1-2 years experience in a laboratory environment; open to fresh grads but prefer at least some (<1 year) work experience
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Be aware of and adhere to safety practices and policies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with effective time management and organization skills
  • Effective communication and interaction skills, both verbal and written
  • Possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform job duties
  • Customer focused and quality driven
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Ability and experience to handle chemical and petroleum products
